Who doesn’t like Christmas presents two weeks late? Well, that’s what this baby’s gonna be. It’s a headwrap I made for my sister…but since I’m mailing it to her I’m modeling it. She has red hair so I thought this green would look amazing on her. And I kept the flower simple because, unlike me, she’s not in to blinging it out with her accessories.

My aunt sent me the “before” picture of a hat she found at the state fair and asked me if I could make her one. That was September and by December I had knit the what’s in the after picture. I carefully wrapped her present, not mentioning anything about the picture she had sent months earlier. Surprise!
Her Response:
“This is the most AWESOME hand made hat ever!!! it has furry soft lining and everything! the designs are actually BETTER than the ones at the fair were… AND i love it!!! =)
THANK YOU SO MUCH EM!!! =) “

This hat was inspired by the woods of the NW penninsula. I wanted something functional but warm and thick ( not to mention being cute). So I came up with this double yarn combination. I knit it using two different 100% wood yarns at the same time.

For this hat I was exploring my Norwegian roots by coming up with a ski cap that used a yarn color change and pattern for the first time. Simple but painstaking. I was proud.
